Bio
Georgi Gill is a Fife-based writer and researcher.
In 2018, she completed a Master of Arts in Creative Writing (Poetry), graduating with Distinction at Manchester Metropolitan University where she was also the recipient of the Michael Schmidt Prize for Best Portfolio.
Georgi’s poems explore a range of themes including the personal and cultural impact of illness and disability, queer history and gender politics. She regularly collaborates with other artists and writers on print, digital and performance projects.
Her work has been published in journals including Tears in the Fence, Structo, Gutter, Under the Radar, The Honest Ulsterman, and Abridged. Georgi’s poems have featured in, among others, two Saboteur Award-nominated anthologies, Stairs and Whispers: D/deaf and Disabled Poets Write Back and #Me Too: Rallying against sexual assault and harassment – a women’s poetry anthology. Her first full collection of poetry, Limbo, was published by Blue Diode Press in 2021 and shortlisted for Scotland’s National Book Awards in the Best First Book 2022 category.
Georgi was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2003 and her lived experience of the condition has informed her current PhD research at the University of Edinburgh. She is exploring the potential of poetry to inform and transform dialogues between individuals with multiple sclerosis and others. Georgi is also the editor of The Interpreter’s House magazine.
